Protecting your Mitral valve with Aditi Jagtap Pune

As we Age our body undergoes various changes out of which a few are noticeable however many may not. One such essential component of our Body is the Cardiovascular system which includes valves, as well as different arteries and veins. One such part that we’re discussing today is Mitral valve and the disease’s as well as the cures related to it. Positioning in between the left atrium and left ventricle of the heart Mitral valve plays a crucial role and as we all know that heart valves are built in order to regulate the smooth functioning of Blood flow into and out of the heart, Mitral valve also like any other valve in the heart ensures a proper blood flow.

Everything about the Mitral valve : -

As stated above the Mitral valve is a doorway between the left atrium and left ventricle and performs various functions like ensuring smooth blood flow, regulating Blood pressure and optimally taking care of the pumping process. The left atrium and left ventricle contains oxygen rich blood from lungs which gets pumped into heart and then into the rest of the body if the mitral valve is damaged it would cause a problem into the overall process causing a severe issue if the damage is mild it won’t cause such an impact but it can severely impact if gone unnoticed for long says Aditi Jagtap Pune. Let us get a deeper dive into the other interesting facts of the mitral valve including its functions, Diseases as well as treatments.

Now let us Find out What exactly this Valve does :-

  • Regulating Blood Flow :- As the name suggests the valve here performs the regulation of blood flowing into the body ensuring a smooth and steady flow.
  • Preventing Backward Flow of the Blood :- The mitral valve plays a very significant role in making sure that the blood only moves forward into the organ rather than flowing backward preventing leakage as well as maintaining a proper circulation in the pumping process.
  • Supporting Heart Functioning :- Overall, the mitral valve supports the functioning of the heart regulating the blood pressure levels and blood flow.

Problems that can arise with Mitral Valve :-

According to Dr Ranjit Jagtap Daughter, Mitral valve disease is a condition affecting your mitral valve. It can be gradually nurtured as we age or a person is born with it. This type of disease can be Mild, Moderate or severe. This disease can either slow down the blood flow or can cause leakage.

There are mainly three types of Mitral valve disease :-

  • Mitral valve stenosis — Under this condition the flaps of the valves become thicker resulting in difficulty of Blood flow because the narrower the opening the harder it makes the blood flow.
  • Mitral Valve Prolapse — This condition causes the valves to become way too stretchy which ultimately causes the leakage of the blood as the valve doesn’t close properly.
  • Mitral Valve Regurgitation — Also commonly known as leaky valve this disease generally occurs when the flaps are stretched apart and are not able to close which ultimately causes the leakage of the blood or it may flow into the wrong direction as well.

Symptoms :-

The symptoms of the disease depends upon the severity of it there are individuals that show zero to no symptoms whereas the common symptoms are as follows :-

  • Cough
  • Chest Pain
  • Fatigue
  • Heart palpitation
  • Dizziness
  • Difficulty in breathing and many others.

Ways to Prevent :-

As per Dr Ranjit Jagtap daughter, There are almost plethora of cases where this disease can’t be prevented however small steps can be taken in order to lower the chances which may include :-

  • Maintaining a healthy weight
  • Regularly Exercising
  • Eating Clean & Healthy
  • Avoiding Usage of Alcohol or any substances.

Final Words :-

To sum up, as it is clear now that the Mitral valve indeed plays a very important role in the overall functioning of the Cardiac system, it is important for us to care and take small steps towards a healthy lifestyle enabling us to enjoy life to its fullest.
